Default Is my tongue piercing infected

Hi all I had my tongue piercing for over 7 years now and few days ago it gotten very painful and it looks like there's like a spot on it and area around swollen. I don't know if this is a sign of infection?
I would post picture but can't figure out how to do that (am on my phone)
If it sounds like infection, how do I treat it?

I think after 7 years it is unlikely to be an infection unless you have poor oral hygiene.
Did you do anything that could have caused this? Like caught your piercing on something for instance?

We don't have much to go on here. If it doesn't clear up soon then go and see a doctor.

Or a dentist perhaps? I think dentists are able to advise on many things, in addition to our teeth and gums. I don’t get to see a Doctor very often, thankfully. Dentists always seem to be more accessible but I guess it depends on where you live. Either way, both will be able to advise you. Occasionally I have used Corsodyl whenever I have felt my mouth needs a ‘freshen up’ beyond normal brushing and flossing, seems to do quite a good job but probably best to see a Doctor as yv mentioned.

I am wondering if you may have Thrush? A dentist would be able to help you more. Thrush can be rather sore and painful as I have had it when I was put on too many antibiotics.
