    Default Donating Blood

    Hi,

I donated blood today - and I don't know when it changed but (in Scotland at least) you only have to wait 4 months after getting a piercing to donate.

It struck me as the nurse stuck the needle in me that as a community (aside from having to wait due to recent piercings) probably more likely to donate blood as we have less of a fear of needles.

I'm up to 35 donations - would have been a lot more if I didn't have so many piercings.

    Anyone else donate blood?

    Yv.

I would in flash but sadly they won't take mine . I am on the organ donors register even though there's not many they would use from me but it makes me feel good if just one thing could help save another's life.

Well done you though. That's an amazing amount you've donated. I hope you are extremely satisfied by the experience of knowing that somebody will benefit from your giving

The blood transfusion service is always trying to get more people to donate.
I'd have donated more but it seems really badly organised. It's a hassle to donate and it shouldn't be.
Everything is slow slow slow and I can't see why. I should be in and out in 30 mins but it was an hour yesterday.

But don't let that put you off - if you can then go and donate. I'd love to find out what good my blood had done and while I hope I'll never need any, it's great to know that some other kind person has donated so there is blood there should I need it.

I've heard a LOT of people say that Yv and I experienced the same a few years back. I tried continuously to just get an appt and it was a fight I finally gave up on sadly.

That is exellent some of you have done/did this - you may have even saved someone life. My Mum has donated around 18 pints but, stopped when she became anaemic and is classed as too old now. I know a lot of the rules have changed with it all. It is a shame it is not made easier as more would most probably donate.
Left side - Ear Lobes 1,2,3 Daith, Helix, Rook, Lower Conch and Double Tragus.

Right side -Ear Lobes 1,2,3 Daith, "Paw" print piercing on the flat of my ear, Tragus, Nostril, Helix and Eyebrow. "Shen Men" piercing.

    Retired - Right Eyebrow's x2.

    Quite a few Tattoo's.

Would like a Forward Helix or two or maybe three!

I donate at my local town hall - they come 4 times a year and are always queued out. I think they even have to turn donors away.
The nurse who dealt with me mentioned that many of the other places they go to aren't that busy.

1+1= go more frequently to the busy places and less frequently to others. doh!
