    Default Stretched Septum advice

I just want to know if this is normal after doing a septum stretch (tomorrow it will be one week)...

My septum doesn't hurt at all if I don't touch it, but when I blow my nose it hurts :/ Is this normal? I think I'm trying to determine if it is the surgical spirits that irritated my septum, or if it's due to the fresh stretch, or both?

Surgical spirit is really harsh. I'd be blaming that. I know it was recommended for ear piercings 30 years ago but I didn't think it was still being used on piercings.

As above surgical spirit/rubbing alcohol should never ever be used internally, the warning label should even state it, it shouldn't be inhaled either and definitely not to be used on mucous membrane!

Tenderness after a septum stretch isn't unheard of but please don't ever use any alcohol on your piercings!

Thanks ladies. Lesson learned! I won't be using it anymore. I woke up this morning, blew my nose and it feels a lot better since not using surgical spirits.

Just looking for some advice for when I stretch up again in a few months time...

I already ordered my jewellery from BJS, which is 2.4mm

I had planned to get the taper from my local online store, but I saw today that it is 2.5mm - is 0.1mm going to make much of a difference when I do stretch up, or should I rather stretch with the surgical steel crescent (2.4mm) I already ordered? I didn't want to use a crescent to stretch, but if it's safer or just better than using a 2.5mm taper then I'll do it.

0.1mm won't make much difference, you'll find cheaper jewellery is often 0.1mm or more out anyway.
