Default Healing a navel piercing and SSS

Hi, I'm wondering whether it's ok to do 3 SSS a day instead of the 2 that's usually recommended?

I had my navel repierced 16 days ago and I think the top is starting to shows signs of infection. It's still quite sore and red around the top piercing hole, with a white 'ring' around the hole. It's not oozing or hot, but if it is infected, I want to stop it straightaway!

So would the extra soak be ok, as I'm aware too much cleaning could be detrimental! Thanks.

2 is already a lot! You'll be drying out and irritating your skin especially if you're making your own and it's bit on the strong side. Have you tried just rinsing it in plain water? I've never soaked any of my piercings when they were new.

1-2 is fine but it's usually best to just rinse it in the shower. Soaks are more recommended for irritated or problematic piercings.

Thanks. I think it's more irritated than infected, as I'm catching the top ball on clothing and my hand when moving in bed. Furthermore, I'm a little paranoid that it's not straight, so I keep on moving it - silly I know, but have stopped it now!

When I had my naval pierced I would put something over the top to keep it from getting caught on things but the stuff was also breathable material. But I didn't keep misnne foe too long. The after care and upkeep was just to much at the time. But good luck n.

Thanks. I've noticed that the bottom ball with the jewel is facing to the side a bit. So I've used some surgical tape to keep the top ball to in place, so that the bottom ball faces the front. Hopefully, the 'channel' underneath will heal without being crooked underneath. Dunno if it will work, but looks more straighter now and stops me from mithering it.

This is the second time I've had it pierced and don't fancy having it redone, if it's just 'a bit out'.

Oh, ok. It seems to be siting ok today, but I'll stop applying the tape, as it could slow down the healing and irritate it more. I'll see how it heals, or get my piercer to have a looK at it.

    Thanks.

I went to punctured body modification to see Jo and Mac in Wolverhampton today to get their opinion on my now 3 week old navel piercing. Yes, it wasn't pierced straight and central, which is why the bar is twisting. I'm absolutely fuming at the piercer who did it, as I did comment at the time that it didn't look straight. He replied to me, 'it's the way I'm looking at it and the swelling' and quickly put a dressing on it. I have a good mind to go back to him and demand my money back!

Anyway, I've got to decide whether to keep it and bear it, or retire it, let it heal and wait 4-6 months and try again at Wolverhampton. I'm determined to have one and thinking of the latter. Fortunately, I have a huge bottle of bio oil on hand!

Why is it so hard to find a decent piercer??!

Oh no! Is it causing you much pain now?
Have you taken it out or decided to leave it in?
Definitely go back and demand your money back. That's just not acceptable.
