    Default No belly button

Hi everyone, thought I would share this with you all, although not piercing related, it is something a bit different.

On the 26th July this year I had a tummy tuck and as part of that I requested that I didn't have my belly button replaced, it was purely due to already having my stomach tattooed and 1. Not wanting to ruin the tattoo and 2. to have the nice smooth stomach

I did think long and hard about this as I couldn't imagine how my stomach would look with out my belly button and to be honest didn't want to be freaked out by it .

The way my surgeon has pulled my skin down, re-positioned my tattoos so that it doesn't even really notice that I haven't got a belly button and most people don't notice unless I tell them.

So here is a pic, You can see my tummy tuck scar (the pic was taken 23 days post op)

Also you can see the bottom half of my tattoo was removed with my apron of skin, I will get this fixed after I am 1 year post op, the standard recommended time after a tummy tuck to have the scar tattooed over.

    I welcome any questions

Very interesting. What made you choose to forego a belly button? Not something you hear or see much, but I guess the belly button really has no purpose after birth obviously.

Just purely for tattoo reason, I didn't want to ruin my tattoo more than having half of it cut off, I asked my surgeon before if there was a medical reason to keep the belly button when he said no, I said I didn't want it replaced, also meant 1 less thing to worry and heal

I see. Something you don't see everyday, that's for sure. Good luck on the rest of your recovery!

I think it's absolutely great that you decided not to get a belly button replacement. Great that you made that choice! Good luck with the healing and I hope you can get your tattoo redone soon. Hope it works out great for you.

Looks like a lovely neat job they did as well. I remember someone on here (Jane) having an elective navel-ectomy and how horribly wrong that went. Very different to your process though!
