Default I just got my tattoo done and I don't really like it :(

    Hi all,
I got my first tattoo done about a month ago: http://m.imgur.com/QBBlMwF
I was fairly happy with it, I thought it needed some more work to get it exactly where I wanted it but I was pleased for the most part.
Jump to last Saturday I decided to get my second piece next to it:http://m.imgur.com/AxnHKvk
The main focus I wanted is the map, and the sun. And I wanted blue to connect the two, like a sea blue to represent the Mediterranean Sea.

Let me start off by saying the artist I went to is darn good, I saw his work, I observed him work, I looked at his portfolio, it was impressive. However I feel like I got the short hand of the stick on this one, specifically the second piece. Compared to some of the stuff I've seen him do I feel like this is child's play. I feel good about the idea of the map/flag combo still, although i feel it could've been done better, and I feel good about the sun. My biggest issue is the tribal blue waves in between! I think they look horrendous to be quite honest. I'm not artistically inclined at all, so I don't know how best to communicate what I want, I kind of trusted him to make it look good. Looking back, tribal to begin with was a bad idea in the first place to represent the sea, let alone that tribal, I think it was poorly designed.

What do you guys think about the tats? And seeing them, what can I do in the future to make it better while keeping the theme of flag/map, ocean, sun? I guess I'm pretty stuck with the tribal waves aren't I since they're outlined in black? My problem is I think I made a mistake and I rushed it, and I also am not an artistic person to tell him exactly what I want, and that's why I'm not satisfied.
I've had this thing for less than 3 days and I already hate it...

Those can be covered with a cover up, but see if you can wait a while before deciding. I hated my second tattoo until recently. I may still get it covered but I don't hate it anymore. Make sure you see an artist who specializes in coverups

I think you should give it a little while to grow on you before deciding what steps you want to take, especially if you're thinking of a cover up. When I got my first tattoo I was so excited, but afterwards for a few weeks I was convinced that I hated it. Now, 4 years later I love it and I'm happy I didn't act too soon and get it altered. Just remember next time you get a tattoo have the artist draw a concept sketch and have them place the mock up on your skin so you can be sure that it's exactly what you want. Also if you do decide to get a cover up make sure the artist is well known and has a clear idea of what they're doing c:

I think it's normal to go through a period of "tattoo remorse" after getting a large piece done, especially if you already felt like you were rushing it. I think the tattoos look good though! Color saturation is awesome and it seems to fit your body well!! I say give it some time and see how you feel about it in a couple of months, if you still hate it after a couple of months see a cover up specialist in your area and see what can be done.

It's certainly not a bad tattoo. I agree with what others have said, give it time and you may grow to love it. Alternatively, cover ups these days can look insane (insane in a good way)! And honestly, due to where it is, I'm sure you'll hardly even notice it. If you really don't like it, perhaps speak to your tattoo artist and see if there is anything he can change or suggest.

Would never want to sound rude, but the first one I would definitely get covered up somehow... I could critique it, but I don't know if the OP is looking for that. The second tatt, I think it's a LOT better than the first... In my opinion, the black areas are way too heavy, which makes it lose flow/connection with what's going on around it. Did the tattooist discuss the designs properly with you before you had these done?
