    Default 50 Books of 2016

Here I am again to start the annual 50 Books challenge... I might actually make more of an attempt this year!

    The Rules:

    1. Books that you've read and finished before today do not count.
    2. If you've just started a book, or are half way through one, then that will count as your first book.
    3. Reply to this post if you want to take part.
    4. You have between January 1st 2016 and January 1st 2017 to read 50 or more books. You can join at any point in the year, but you still only have until January to finish.
    5. Reply to this thread with the book you're reading. Reply once you've finished the book. You can give a little review or say what you did and didn't like if you want to but please don't spoil the book; others may not have read it.
If you read the same book twice in one year, then that counts as two books.

    Go and read!

Oh yeah, I forgot the mini-reviews! I've read 4 so far (soon I won't be able to because of exams). I should also mention that I'm doing this 9gag Reading Challenge, which has specific recommendations of genres that I wouldn't usually pick. Makes it more interesting:

Dita von Teese's "Your Beauty Mark" was interesting, I'm sure I'll keep a few of the tips in mind. I like how Dita just comes out and says that she doesn't naturally look as she would like and she doesn't hesitate to take care of that herself, because so many beauty tips try to focus on "natural beauty" and I'm like "Nope, I don't want THAT"

Ronald Malfi's "Borealis" was actually more of a novella since it was pretty short. It was good though, I love it when horror books don't show the "monster" much.

Janet Fitch's "White Oleander" was REALLY good, I had watched the movie a few years ago but didn't know it was based on a novel. I loved it.

Peter Clines' "The Fold" I liked it, it was a pretty good mix of science fiction (which I normally don't care for much) and suspense, with some pretty funny one-liners at places. It was kinda sexist, though (as in: in the end, everyone got saved by the male main character instead of the many ladies that were around also)

EDIT 1: Will Elliott's "The Pilo Family Circus" was really freaking cool. I need to find the sequel ASAP!

EDIT 2: Amy Poehler's "Yes Please" Basically, I read this because of the 9gag challenge, one of the items is "A book written by a comedian" I was expecting something like Amanda Palmer's "The Art of Asking", probably funnier, but nope. I can't say it was boring or anything, but it wasn't really anything I'll be re-reading in the future.

Finished two books in a day, numbers 7 and 8:

7 was John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars", which I read because I needed a "YA Bestseller" for the 9gag challenge (you're already sick of me mentioning that, aren't you) and I've always wanted to give it a try because it got so popular and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Well, let's just say that I thought my eyes would get stuck in a permanent eyeroll. So pretentious.

8 was a book by a Greek author, Kostakis Anan's "Formaldehyde" which was a satirical/ autobiographical comedy. It was very funny, but there were some points where the author just went on pointless and tiring rants, which I basically skimmed.
