    Default Sizing question

Just wondering would a 1.2mm be ok for a 1.6mm piercing? I'm assuming it would as it's smaller?

    thanks

Yeah it should be fine, depends on the piercing though, some suit a larger gauge. Also remember if you want to size back up to 1.6mm then you'll be stretching and need to take the correct steps to do so.
    Piercings: 6 lobes, 2 12mm stretched lobes, 4 helices, 3 tragus, daith, 2 nostril, 2.4mm VCH, 2.4mm daith
    Modifications: 5mm septum punch,
coinslot ear cartilage removal, 5mm conch punch
Cosmetic Modifications: Scar removal x7, semi permanent eyebrows, semi permanent eyeliner, semi permanent lipstick, lip dermal filler, botox
Retired Piercings: 3 nipple, tongue, 4 philtrum, 4 eyebrow, 2 outer labia, VCH, 1 lobe, rook, nostril, 3 nape MDs, 2 wrist MDs, septum, 3 upper conch, conch, 5 helices
    Tattoos: 95 hours

It would go in no problem, but over time the hole might shrink so you'd struggle to get 1.6mm back in again.

Also might have a slightly increased risk of migration or the "cheesewire effect", depending on where/what it is.
what's a few seconds of pain for a lifetime of shiny?

    Both lobes 1/2", 5mm, 1.6mm
Left rook & 5mm helix punch
Right helix x2 & forward helix
    VCH, 5mm tongue

i wouldn't be keeping the 1.2s in for long, how long would the hole take to shrink?

They're only just healed so if you wanted to go back up to 1.6mm from 1.2mm I'd suggest waiting a good 6 months.

So best to stick to 1.6s? Or would it be ok to have 1.2s in for like a day or two?

As above, you'd be stretching them so it would ideally be 6 months, not 2 days. It could work but I don't see the point in risking it.

Why is this a thing anyway? Are you wanting to wear retainers or something?
