    Default Stretched ears still red?

I stopped stretching my ears about a year ago and they're at a 00g. I never had any blowouts or infections or bleeding. It was all done well, in my opinion. They're seemingly totally fine now except for the fact that the skin around and inside my holes is red-ish. It's not flaming red and there's no pain or burning at all. It's just slightly more red than the rest of my ear (I'm pretty pale). It's not even visible when I'm wearing jewellery.

Is this normal? How can I reduce the redness?

Thank you. I am very new to this forum so please be gentle if I'm doing something wrong!!

What material are you wearing in them?

    Do you regularly clean them?

Do you ever sleep with naked lobes?

Do you wear weights a lot causing your lobes to pull?

As long as there's no irritation being caused like not cleaning enough, cheap materials being worn etc then I think it's normal tbh just part of the process. Maybe oil massages could help? That and time

99 percent of the time I'm wearing silicone tunnels.

I let the spray of the shower rinse them off every day and a couple times a week I use a gentle facial cleanser on them to really wash.

I sleep with with them naked a couple times a week on average. It's inconsistent. Is this bad?

    nope, no weights.

    Thank you.

I'll definitely try washing them every day with gentle soap (is every couple days not enough?) and the oil massages. Any recommendations for oils and where to get them? 99 percent of the time I'm wearing Kaos softwear silicone tunnels that I got from Bodyartforms. Are these okay or are they considered cheap jewellery?

Thank you very much for your quick reply!

Kaos is fine but porous so maybe try wearing titanium and/or glass from time to time.

You really should be popping them out every day and washing the jewellery and your lobes a couple of times a week means dead skin cells will be building up and causing gunk, most people do it when they have a shower.

Any natural oil is fine, jojoba, coconut, almond etc. In the UK you can get them pretty much anywhere, supermarkets, health food stores, chemists etc not sure about elsewhere but ebay will also have stuff.

    Hazel,

I've already been taking them out to shower, but I'll be more careful to wash them better. I'll also look into more jewellery!

i already have coconut oil so I'll use that to massage my lobes. Thank you so very much for your reassurances and advice.

Remember to wash the jewellery as well. Either in the shower (if you have a hair catcher in the plughole) or in a colander in the sink. Just in case they ping out of your hands mine always try to escape when I'm washing them, so I use the colander.

I generally shower without plugs in so my lobes get washed along with my face etc. I've dropped too many plugs in showers! >< and as for clear silicone o-rings - ping! - goodbye forever!
what's a few seconds of pain for a lifetime of shiny?

    Both lobes 1/2", 5mm, 1.6mm
Left rook & 5mm helix punch
Right helix x2 & forward helix
    VCH, 5mm tongue
