Default Decided on a Prince Albert

So, as the title says, I've decided on getting myself a Prince Albert. Being my first piercing, and the fact its in such a special area, I've been trying to source the best person to do the job. Does anyone know of a good piercer in the Southend-on-Sea area? Or Basildon? Or anywhere inbetween?

I have found some studios that will do it but I not willing to trust any old Tom, Dick and Harry. I would rather go on recommendations, which is difficult when I dont know anybody personally who has one.

Also, would I be ok to get it done in my lunch hour and then go back to work, or will I need time to recover? There is a tattoo and piercing studio round the corner from work that my brother has used (for a tattoo) and he was impressed. If this search doesn't bear fruit then that will be the best I've got to go on.

    Any help will be great

Have a read of this guide from the APP, it gives advice on how to choose a piercer and what to look out for.

You could go back to work but that depends on what your job is, I personally wouldn't recommend it from the experience diaries I have read, friends I know who have had it done etc

Who is the piercer you're considering? Maybe we can suss them out for you, have you looked at any other piercers? Best to find one, then research them, then if still unsure come back here and we could give further input. You'll also want to make sure that you get on with the piercer and feel comfortable around them as well.

The piercers in Basildon I been looking at are Bananas Body Art (brothers tattoo) and Originality Studios. In Southend I've been looking at Kims Tattoo and Piercings and Shimanics Body Art. I've heard mixed reviews of Kims and nothing about Shimanics or Originality.

Should I just pop into them all for a chat?

If you read the guide I linked to it goes through what to look for and what to ask so yep going in and having a chat is always the best way to find out more.

I'll have a look at their websites and facebook etc later, just about to eat.

    ETA:
Bananas Body Art - Avoid, they can't get ear piercings right.
Originality Studios - Run like hell, they use guns and again wrong jewellery used in basic piercings.
Kims - can't find any info on their piercer.
Shamanic Body Art - can't see any portfolio for their piercer. However their aftercare is all wrong and they mention nothing about aftercare for genital piercings which makes me wonder if they do many or know how they are to be cared for.

Excellent piercers are few and far between in my experience, my town must have about 30 or more but I wouldn't touch any of them.

I travel to my piercer an hour each way but it's well worth it. Even if it was double I'd do it.

Thanks for all the help Hazel. After what you said I've started to search further away from home. I've found a studio in South Woodham Ferrers call Metal-licious. According to their website, they specialise in genital piercings. The piercer there is rated fairly highly on free index

    freeindex.co.uk/profile(metalicious-body-piercing)_322396.htm

Does this place send any alarm bells ringing. Sorry to keep on but I have no experience with piecers at all

Not much to say on them, if they think they are specialists then that's fine! The reviews look good, can't comment on their work as there's no actual portfolio (the "gallery" is full of model shoots and generic photos of piercings), the aftercare advice is spot on, they do some dodgy piercings (6 MD's in 1 go, knuckle piercings etc) and there's no mention of procedure, materials used etc so you'll have to do your own research on them really! They do a large range of male genital piercings so that's sometimes a good sign.

Good luck, I got my PA done a few years ago now. I'm looking to upgrade to the dolphin piercing soon
