Exclamation The dreaded nose bump! (Losing my patience)

    Hi there

I'm new to the site and wanted to create a post about something I've been trying to deal with for a long time. I got my nose pierced quite a while ago. About a week afterwards, I woke up and it was very sore. I was looking after it well prior, but I think I may have knocked it in my sleep. I woke up to see a massive red bump on my nose. I panicked but decided to stay calm and keep doing the SSS.

A few days later I looked up about the bump and found that tea tree oil was favourite to treating it. I used a small bit after every SSS for about 3 weeks and no change apart from the top layer of skin going a bit hard. No size changes.

i then left it for a while, realising that it didn't do any proper improvement to it. I then looked up the aspirin method (I found out this was a bad idea later on) and as it does, it strips the layers of tissue off your skin...when I found out about that I stopped it altogether. No change in bump.

I kept doing the SSS and also adding salt onto the bump too. I did this for two weeks and no change.

My patience was running out and after 5 trips to the doctor (every trip I took they told me it was my fault I had it and I shouldn't have piercings because they aren't natural) they finally gave me a cream with hydrocortisome cream and fusidic acid. It worked wonders and the bump went in a week!

HOWEVER, after I stopped using the cream, keeping up the SSS's mind, I woke up with a massive whitehead spot where the bump was. I soaked it and it popped later on that day. It then went away for a while. But this morning I just woke up to what seems to be the bump. Again. I'm running out of patience and don't know what to do. My family keep complaining about it too.
I currently have what I believe is a surgical steel ring. I've heard mixed reviews on changing it to a stud but I have a titanium screw fit labret style stud I could change it to. However it is quite sore.
also my SSS's aren't too strong, they have just a small pinch of salt each time.

any help would be brilliant, I'm not sure what to do from here really. Thanks!

Have you tried leaving it alone?

I had my right nostril pierced in March, it gets bumps now and then with the most recent being about a week ago. I make sure to rinse it in the shower and leave it alone, it tends to go on it's own, I think the hot weather annoys it as well.

Yes I've had weeks of leaving it alone and not much happened to it. Perhaps ill do that again and see what it does. Do you think changing to the stud may help? Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated.

Yes rings and steel will not be helping it.

How old is it? Has it always been like this or did it have a long period of time where it was ok?

About a year old ish? And it's always been like this really! Up until I got cream from the doctors but now it seems to be back.

and okay, titanium stud it is, perhaps it's been the ring all along :s

If the ring has been in since the start then yep it's likely to have been that, rings spin and twist and irritate fresh piercings and prevent them from healing, you may find it settles ^_^
