Well tbh most people start looking online at portfolios for artists in their area, many have websites and/or facebook pages. It took me a over a year of looking and deciding to find my artist and I travel a 170 mile round trip to see her. Make sure to look for artists who are excellent in the kind of work you want, there's no point going to an artist who specialises in old school when you want a portrait tattoo etc

When you find some and want some opinions then post the portfolios on here.

My artist would nail something like that but it's dependant on if you want to travel to Shrewsbury to see her, direct train from Cardiff if I recall correctly.

Could you possibly send me any links too her work? It's still early days and I won't be getting tatted until I find someone perfect for me anyway, just finding it hard to find any portfolios where I really go 'wow I would love their work on me!'

Yeah it took me an age to find someone I was happy with, there's literally 100's of artists between me and her but none are good enough for me really plus I adore her style.

When you find the right person you'll know! I was considering an 800 mile round trip to London (I was planning on incorporating a holiday in!) to get my half sleeve but something always held me back from booking in and I actually ended up finding my perfect artist at the top of the street I lived on last year (I live in the centre of Edinburgh)!
I was just flicking through the portfolios of artists at my piercers when I came across the photos that made me realise "this is the guy I want to ink me". Look through portfolios online and in person (where possible) and chat to the artists, I actually really look forward to my appointments to chat to Rich cause we get on well and he's a funny, laid back guy which makes it all the more enjoyable! I've had other tattoos done by skilled artists who were very quiet and I definitely find it easier to sit when I'm chatting away so now I always consider their personality too!

New here and also from south Wales. What area are you in? There's a lot of good artists around that specialise in different designs.

Physical Graffiti Cardiff (have a website and a facebook page). Living Colour Cwmbran (Only have facebook pages) and Debbie Jones (https://www.facebook.com/DebbieJonesTattoo?fref=ts ) I put her link in because she's changing studios. Like all above said, it all depends what you want. I'm off to living colour for my first tattoo 'cause of the help they gave me with my skin allergies. and have 10 days til it's tattoo time x). Swansea usually has a lot of good artsists but couldn't recommend any shops or artists specifically. Also, I couldn't see the picture you posted, so couldn't see the style you wanted.
    Piercings and what not..

    2 x Lobes, 1 x 10mm Stretch (L), Helix (L), Tragus (L), Conch (L), Anti Tragus (R), Snug (R), Daith (R), Tongue Web & 2 x Wrist Skin Divers.
Wish List: Rook, Gill, Orbital, Tatto.
    Retired: 3 x Lobe, 1 x Tragus.
