Default Wanting a conch + having a job = Aghhh help?!

    Greetings, all.
The thing is, right, i seriouslllyyyy want a double conch in my left ear... obviously one at a time.
But, and it's a big but, my workplace doesn't allow jewellery.

    So,

Can i get it pierced and then change it to a retainer when i get home?
And if i could, would it have to be quartz or would ptfe or bioplast do?

Agggh, the downsides of being employed, eh?
    Please help..
    Thanks.

Have you asked if one there would be ok? Its pretty discrete so perhaps wouldn't be a problem?

Where do you work? Can you wear your hair over it? It's not an obvious piercing. Why get a lovely piercing if you are just gonna put bioplast in? I'll bet no one would even notice anyway but depends where you work.

My conch took a long time to settle enough to change the jewellery, I now wear a bioplast stud with a small clear gem, it looks super sweet and subtle. I tie my hair back so it is noticeable but noone's ever commented. When my boss notices my new piercing I just say it's been there ages! It is worth an ask tho, you'd be surprised what some employers allow. But does depend on the company size/industry.

Why don't you ask your piercer to pierce it with ptfe? It might cost a little more but it's better than changing it when you get home, it could get infected or you could loose the piercing whilst trying to change it.

Yeah, I agree with Zara's idea, see if you can get pierced with PTFE because you don't want to be messing it around too much (trust me - my conch hated me for the first few months :P). I'd also consider getting both done at the same time as when you get the 2nd one done after the 1st is healed it may well start playing you up again. It is a discreet piercing though compared to a lot of others so unless you work with your hair tied back it's probably something you could get away with (not that I'm encouraging you to defy your boss... teehee)!!

What ever you do, don't get it done at blue banana, I've heard horror stories from people getting pierced there...

yeah, you're right.. i've been reading some pretty gross things.. so, won't be getting it done at blue banana!
i suppose it's worth paying more to get it done safely, plus it saves me getting the train to cardiff and back!
