why won't my plugs fit?

Okay, so I'm at a 1/2" gauge. And I've had these half inch tapers in for maybe a month now.
(I know I shouldn't keep tapers in - I was too broke to buy plugs)
But I finally got some plugs today. But they won't go in my ear?
I've tried after my hot shower too and they just won't fit in.
They are double flared and I know that's kind of tricky at first,
but I tried putting them in at an angle and they still will not go in.
I really need these in before next Saturday.
Can somebody give me some advice at what I should do?
(Btw, I don't have any lube to use)

A month isn't very long for your ears to loosen up enough for double-flared plugs. You really need to get some single-flare and stop wearing the tapers.

get some cheap ones if need be. shouldnt wear tapers at all for jewelry. youd be able to get some cheap single flared plugs even if the material is a bit crap.

You answered your own question!
A month is way too short for most people's ears to loosen up for DF. And you need lube (you don't have anything around the house? a cream, moisturiser?)
Plus, 1/2" can be a tricky size, it can vary from 12, 12.7 and 13mm, so it's possible the plugs are even bigger.
If you absolutely want your plugs in, you can sand off the flare and use them as SF? What material are they, acrylic, wood?

All good advice above but if you're really struggling, maybe put stretching on hold until you can afford it? Or save up some money in the meantime as 1 month isn't long enough to wait

it 3 months per mm stretched if u want to be on the safe side.. also df should only be worn in well healed piercings get some sf and try again with lots of lube

thanks guys. i mean i know that. but there is no cheaper plugs than 13 dollars. and there is no way i can get any more money. spencer's only has double flared half inch plugs :|

Try these

Glass is fantastic for fresh stretches. Nothing is smoother, plus the rounded end makes them slide in effortlessly.
Shop around, there's always something (but not acrylic)

yeah i'm starting to think one of my glass plugs is slightly bigger than it should be because the taper goes through no problem but the plug just will not go. really annoys me. holey butt'r ordered lol.

What if i use teflon tape on my 7/16th plugs for now? should that be fine?
