For me, thigh and calf didn't really hurt at all, but anything on or near the ribs is uncomfortable. But like others have said, pain is subjective - and getting a tattoo in a certain place because you think it will hurt less isn't the right reason IMO. A tattoo will be on your body forever so think carefully about where you WANT it. Also consider how visible you want it to be and whether or not you want to be able to cover it easily. Hope that helps.

I have to agree on the artist/person theory. I had a tattoo on my wrist/forearm done by one artist and it was a breeze, didnt even flinch but a different tattooist did another tattoo on my other wrist and it hurt like a bitch.

While I was having my forearm done by one artist the other artist was doing the forearm of a guy and he had to leave for air around 5 times during his tattoo whereas like i said i didnt think it hurt at all really, apart from a few 'sharp scratches' on my wrist and close to my elbow joint so depends on the artist and your pain threshold x

why is the wrist tattoo in the red zone ?
is it a bony area ? also, while tattooing, is it possible that the needle punctures my veins?
