Unhappy HELP - My nostril piercing has turned into a spot...

Right, I've had this done for about a year now, I change my stud myself, had no healing problems, etc etc.
I'm still cleaning in the morning and evening with a sea salt solution.
I'm not that amazing a creature so I've had colds before but last night (plus cold) I was cleaning it and milky liquid came out, so I cleaned a little more thoughourly and the tinest hue of blood came out. So I rinsed it with salt water and went to bed. It felt a little tender and when I got up for the loo in the night it looked swollen. Again, rinsed it and went back to bed.
This morning my face has decided my stud is a spot, or something, and it's done THIS.

(I was going to upload a photo but my internet is being awful.)
It's pretty much like on one side of the stud the skin has swelled up to meet flush with it, then there is a large amount of yellow pus under a thin layer of skin and about a third of the circumference is just normal...

    I am horrified.
I haven't popped it (it's too tempting) or anything til I have some advice.
I'm worried what this is doing to my piercing let alone aesthetically.
And I have dinner with the in-laws this weekend...

Any advice is so needed, sorry for grossing anyone out. I really want to relieve the pus...

Just continue with your sea salt soaks and leave it alone. It will sort itself out, mine did, just don't mess with it.

Thanks Morph, is it normal though? I suppose it means a part of the piercing still wasn't healed and infection got in from my cold? Was yours also when you were unwell?

(Sorry morph) I used surgical spirit to clean a needle, rinsed it off and punctured the whitehead. Lots (I mean lots, about enough to fill half a small pea) came out, very thick and creamy and then sprayed the stud with a liquid silver (this exists, and it's amazing for piercings) and it's looking calm for now but I'm still worried it'll fill up again, or what exactly is causing it. I'm off for a shower which hopefully should help too x

I had something like that on my nostril within a few months of it being pierced. I just popped it, and it never came back again.

It's probably just a blocked pore that's formed a small cyst.

Thanks guys, I hope so. It's really odd. Right now after a few hours of being awake (properly) and getting on with life... it pretty much looks like a spot that's got a piece of jewellery stuck through it. Very frustrating. What would you recommend? Being thorough with the cleaning or the gentle route?

It's pretty common, I've had it about 3, each time I've attacked it (gently) with a sterile needle, drained it, done a soak, popped some fucidin cream on it and then left it alone. Not had it for a while. Nothing strange about it tbh.

Thanks Hazel, I lanced it this morning and thinking I might do it again tonight if that's the case. That's quite a relief I've never heard of it before, especially not in practically healed piercings. Very relieved x
