So turns out the hostel im staying at has sandwich/pastry night every tuesday and friday. Lots of gluten but im not gonna say no to free food!
Other than that im still stuck.. ive had potato and beans, pasta/rice and beans, pasta with shredded courgette (mince alternative!) and tomato puree. I bought some tinned beans but i have no idea what to do with them and the tinned soups here are so expensive that i havent actually bought one yet.. Quorn etc seems to be frozen only and theres no freezer so i cant even get that unless i cook it all in one go and they are massive bags! I really want some spinach or tofu for iron but what goes with spinach? and how do i cook marinated tofu?
Doesnt help that i hate cooking and hate people watching me cook especially since i prefer raw vegetables. Should have seen the looks i got when i put raw courgettes on my pasta!
Cooking for yourself at uni was so much easier since there was only 5 of us not 30 and we had all the utensils normal kitchens have.

^ I think spinach goes really well in tomato sauces, like pasta sauce, y'know? Or in a salad.
Never done anything with tofu, sorry.
what's a few seconds of pain for a lifetime of shiny?

Spinach makes a very tasty soup (you can include other leaves like watercress* etc if you can get them).

Spinach makes an ace curry too! Or omelette or smoothie (if they have a blender!). Tofu you can just pan-fry or grill if it's marinated in a decent tasting sauce/marinade. If it's plain scrambled is nice instead of eggs or dipped in cornflour/chilli flakes/sesame seeds and fried is one of my faves

Good point about the curry. It is also wonderful in a spinach & mushroom parcel. If you want to get the maximum benefit from the iron, you should ensure that you eat or drink something made from citrus fruit at the same time.

You can also make a spinach vegetarian pasty (or similar using bread dough instead of pastry).
