Just finished making a huuuge pot of kale sarma, like, stuffed cabbage rolls (but in kale leaves) and it's veggie, I used TVP and lentils instead of meat, lots of carrots and rice in it too. And a big batch of Russian salad, yay for holiday food! (I may be a bit early as this is traditional xmas/new year's food :p)

The housemates are enjoying my holiday spirit hah

We're sick of eating the same old stuff cause we can only buy enough in for a couple of days and can never be bothered to think of something minutes before going to the shop - we always end up eating the same things in rotation. So I sat down today and made a "meal plan" for our next month after payday (15th dec - 14th Jan). Not including the week from 23rd to 29th December though.

    Sausage and potato casserole
Home made toad in the hole with mash and gravy
    Spinach and feta cannelloni
    Braised chicken and beans
    "American" spaghetti
    Cottage pie x2
    Spicy sausage and tomato pasta
    Sausage, potato and spinach bake
    Chilli pasta bake
    Bacon and broccoli pasta grill
    Chilli baked potatoes x2
    Spaghetti bolognese
    Cowboy casserole x2
    Sausage and bean hot pot
Hot dog pasta bake x3 (we LOVE this)
    Stir fry x2
    Beef and baked bean casserole
    Carbonara pasta bake

And all for ~70 (based on Asda - I'm going to compare now )!

Daily rice recipe I eat a lot:

    Cooked rice
    1 tomato chopped into pieces
Clove of garlic crushed and chopped
    Mixed herbs
    1 small onion
    Oil

Fry off the veg in a pan for about 5 mins til mushy, then add cooked rice. Season with salt and pepper and add some butter to make it extra tasty.

I usually serve this with some meat or if I have none, I add a can of tuna during the cooking process

I hate cooking. Just threw some red onions, courgette, mushrooms, green lentils and chopped tomatoes into a pan and added some rice. Im surprised by how good it tastes!

I've asked my housemate for Mary Berry's new cookery book for Christmas

Made a chocolate sponge earlier, im vegan and my housemate is a soya intolerant coeliac so makes making something for us to share more challenging but for a first attempt at gluten free it was alright I have cracked vegan cake I just need to play with gluten free some more to get it spot on, different texture entirely to normal wheat flour cakes but today's cake was perfectly edible so thats a good start

Try different flours. The one we get is just a tiniest bit drier than usual but has the same texture and taste as a non-gluten free cake. I can't remember which one it is though! We went through a few before finding one we like.

:-) Im going to have a good play around with other flours :-) are you vegan too? took me ages to fine tune cakes using veg oil in place of eggs and butter with normal flour so I imagine itll take a few to get the best of out the flour I do have. In the mean time even not so great cake is made scrummy with custard
