Default Can you melt/reshape bioplast nose studs?

I'm back to school soon and I am not having a repeat of before where I had to take my nose stud out and it closed so I am getting the clear bioplast retainer. However, I have been having trouble finding nose studs (I've been unbending screws and I will order some fishtails from elsewhere) because my nostrils are quite (very) thick So I was wondering about what I could do with the stud if the shaft doesnt go all the way through, do you think I could soften it with a hairdryer/straighteners and reshape them? Cheers

It wont be possible, as bioplast can withstand autoclaving at 121c! Nose screws often have a wearable of 6mm, so a labret retainer would definitley be best.

Thanks for the answers so far but the labret studs are too wide, they would stretch my nose too much. Hopefully 6mm will be enough of a shaft (last time 10mm only just went through, but swelling may have gone down). What about straighteners (210 degrees)?

You can get quartz retainers with 5/16" wearable (approx 8mm). My Bioplast retainers have approx 5-6mm wearable. I definitely wouldn't want to try reshaping it with heat, I don't think it would work very well and could possibly affect the material.

Even if you could get it to reshape, putting that in toe nose woul be a bad idea. Bioplast is pretty much PTFE to my understanding. PTFE An abreviation of the chemical name. The branded name is Teflon. Teflon is safe for even consumption, but when heated chemical reactions occur leading to it becoming another compound, which is not safe for consumption. So pans coated with Teflon are a bad thing, if you're going above 120 degrees (all meats need to be heated higher than that to cook through). So try looking for a 1mm labret, I'm sure there are some out there!

Pans with teflon coatings can kill parrots if they over heat
