    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12606610

In some ways, I think it's fair as recently my boyfriend got quoted TRIPLE what I did when I passed my test for the SAME cover on the SAME car :/ only difference is he's a guy & I'm a girl :/ which I do think is silly buuuuut I don't wanna pay more )':

    Thoughts?

Its fair I guess, equality, anti-discriminatory whatever. Men shouldn't be penilised for being men/having a bad rep! But I can't afford my insurance to go up! Bad times.

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) said currently the cost of the average car claim by an 18-year old man was 4,400, while that for an 18-year old woman was 2,700.

    source BBC news.

Statistically women cost less than men

I dont think the price difference should be so great but statistically women cost less so its only fair they pay less
Got : tongue, rook, helix (x3), tragus, conch (x2), lobes (x4)
Retired: daith, tragus, helix, wrist, daith, navel
    Tats: not enough

I Know it is . Just needed to vent frustration - it just hacks me right off that it all boils down to how many pennies their Chairman gets to take home.

Has anyone come up with a validated researched answer as to why men have to pay more for their insurance? Other than the standard women are safer drivers argument... most men I know are just as competant as women.

    No worries

Just me ranting - still would love to know on what grounds the insurance companies base their claim that men cost more. Would love to see the scientific research to back that one up!!

Its just the fact that men get into more accidents than women isn't it? :/
And it's statistically proven, I think.

I thought it was simply based no risk factor and men are higher risk but I can't link it back to a specific study so have no idea if it's the truth or not!
