My friend got a flat tire today, and so I went to help her change it after I got out of class. I was really, really sad for her because while she was waiting for me a lot of people (read frat guys) just walked by her without offering to help, but then as soon as I got there (in my cutoffs, as she pointed out) several people stopped to ask if we were ok. And it just made me so sad that no one stopped to help her because she's not a typical "pretty" girl, ya know?

To make matters worse the tire looks like it was slashed. She's going to a mechanic tomorrow then likely filing a police report.

I just... can't believe that this is my life. I've been here 5 days and I'm already having the best time of my life. I think a lot of that is due to the hard work of the committee to organise this week for us. Get us settled in and all. Though admittedly with all the partying and socialising, I've not had much time to study or tidy my room. But that won't be AS MUCH of an issue after the first week.

I thought I was gonna be homesick, and miss the familiarity of home, but I feel like I'm settling in great. Not entirely settled yet (haven't even visited the city yet - the furthest I've ventured out of campus so far was to the Tesco) but it'll happen when I've got the time - need to get using my bike for something! I do miss my family, and I do miss my cat, but I guess I'm just too busy right now to think on it.

    My flatmates are amazing, too.
    I will do!

I'm glad you're having an amazing time! I'm in my second week now (if you count freshers as the first week, haha). What/where are you studying, by the way?

It's becoming more and more common to see an other/not answered option for this now-a-days.

You know the people who I mean; there's always one one the course. =P (And no, it isn't you by suggesting that they add an option that conforms to other university standards.)
thank you all I am going to email him and just point it out. I wish I'd said something at the time but it was such a fast paced survey (this is one question, vote, this is another question, vote) in a lecture that there wasn't necessarily an appropriate time to point it out. But I guess that's why email exists :P

@Jester, I know exactly who you mean :') and I know that I am not that person :P
You sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.

I've been in a really good mood up until about Sunday - all of a sudden I feel very down, like I can't be bothered with anything. Like, I have moments at work where everything is going well but the next I feel like I'm doing everything wrong. At home I'm constantly in a bad mood and its even making me fed up of myself now!

Blah, I just need a lot of sleep....

    Im doing medicine ^.^

I'll be honest, this is the most tired I've ever been in my whole life. But, the 9-5 lectures and teaching sessions aren't a chore at all. If I was in work, I'd probably be clock watching, but I'm just concentrating and contributing. I think that is a good sign for the future, because it must mean that I'm enjoying the course and that I'll enjoy working in the field.

Things will be a lot better when my body clock adjusts to the 7AM waking though. Should take me 2 or 3 weeks.

What is it you're studying? =)

Niceee. Biology was my undergrad and I gravitated heavily to the cell biology/genetics side, it was just the best
