Working two jobs, taking 17 credit hours, president of two clubs and on the board of three more, applying to vet schools, and volunteering.

As I sit here shaking from two five-hour energies, four mountain dews, and a bottle of powerade because I haven't slept in two days I think to myself... maybe I need to give something up.... or sleep.

Yesterday we were in a lecture and doing a survey and one of the questions was 'what is your gender, male or female?'

Now, at risk of sounding like a whiny baby, I feel like this question (esp. on a social science module) should have had an option for 'prefer not to say' or 'other'

I'm debating on emailing my lecturer and just saying to him that it might be worth adding this option for future surveys (especially if we have to do a cross tabulation involving gender) but idk, I don't want to come across as nit picky but the university itself has these options when you register as a student and I therefore think that they should be options in surveys? ESPECIALLY on Sociology (which you would assume would be naturally more accommodating..?)

idk, I want to say something but I don't want to set a bad impression of myself in the first week back D':
You sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.

I think that you should email your professor, TBH. It's not guaranteed that you will make a bad impression, maybe the prof will think "Darn, I should have thought of this myself"

I agree. I think it's definitely something you should raise. It's not like you're making a complaint or anything, so it shouldn't make a bad impression. It's an observation that you've made about something that should be considered.

I don't think you'd make a bad impression of yourself, especially if you're polite about it. As someone who also studied social science, I'll bet anything they have to put up with angrier, more ridiculous complaints/suggestions. You know the people who I mean; there's always one one the course. =P (And no, it isn't you by suggesting that they add an option that conforms to other university standards.)

Job hunting can be so draining. =( Everything requires experience, which I don't have because I've been at uni rather than working. I can't even go into anything within my field, as I need to stay local for the next year or so. Bleurgh. I just want a job already, hah.

I'm thinking that a friend of mine has been blatantly lying to me and another friend lately.

I'm thinking that I'm exhausted and that I'm so glad to be in the laboratory group that starts at two in the afternoon, rather than the one that starts at nine in the morning.

Heh, ALL my starts are at 9AM (5 days a week). Enjoy having the lie-ins!

I just... can't believe that this is my life. I've been here 5 days and I'm already having the best time of my life. I think a lot of that is due to the hard work of the committee to organise this week for us. Get us settled in and all. Though admittedly with all the partying and socialising, I've not had much time to study or tidy my room. But that won't be AS MUCH of an issue after the first week.

I thought I was gonna be homesick, and miss the familiarity of home, but I feel like I'm settling in great. Not entirely settled yet (haven't even visited the city yet - the furthest I've ventured out of campus so far was to the Tesco) but it'll happen when I've got the time - need to get using my bike for something! I do miss my family, and I do miss my cat, but I guess I'm just too busy right now to think on it.

    My flatmates are amazing, too.
    Current:
    - Ear lobes x2 (right) and x1 (left)
    - Tunnel (left lobe) 10mm
    - Navel
    - Helix (right)
    - A half-rejected industrial (left)
    - Tragus (left)
    - Nostril (right)
    - Conch (right)
    - Nipple (left)

    Pending:
    - Rooks (both), in the distant future

    Retired:
    - Septum
    - Lip (left)
    - Nipple (right)
