Partly why I adopted the moniker 'stretcher', I went along after just 6 weeks for my first stretch up to 2mm, and that was far too soon, or so the piercer informed me as it bled, quite a bit. Maybe leave it a few months, then go for the stretch. It is possible to stretch up at the time of piercing, of course.
First piercing: 1.6 Prince Albert - now 6mm. Latest additions: apadravya; ampallang (the magic cross!)

I was pierced at 3.2mm. Stretched to 4mm after 8 weeks. ( this was too soon for 1st stretch i think). It was quite painfull and i would not recomend it so soon. How ever i am now at 8mm about 10 months later stretchin every 2 months or so. I have no intention going any bigger and may go back to 6mm perminantly. I like the look of 8mm but the 6mm feels far better in use.

I was also done with a 3.2mm and now I have a 6mm smooth segment ring.
6mm works best for me, had a 8mm ring but it gets too heavy so I stay with 6mm.

    Piercings:
    Septum 5mm spike
    PA 6mm smoth segment ring
3x Bead strings on the shaft

    Retired:
Apadravya, will have a new one soon...

    Next step:
    Apadravya (shaft?) and Ampallang
    More beadings...
    maybe will move into branding/cutting

Do you not find the smooth segment ring pinches. I had one in and found the tinyest bit of play allows for the ring to pinch as it rotates in the piercing. Especially when in use. It was far too uncomfortable for me.

Then I guess your ring had a bad fit, mine is absolutely smooth and there are no way that it can pinch.
I prefer it just because it can rotate freely in the hole.

I got pierced a couple weeks ago at 3.2mm, and all seems well so far. I barely notice it's there any more, and I can even sleep on my stomach again without the ball sliding into my urethra...a most welcome development, if I may say.

The one problem? It smells, even after a SSS and cleaning it extra thoroughly in the shower (moving it to make sure all crusties are taken care of, etc.). Can it be a question of REALLY making sure it's dry afterwards, or is there some other proven method to help alleviate this? Thanks, all.

    Default First Stretch

I've just had the first stretch of my PA five weeks after the piercing . I went from 2.4mm to 3.2mm, doesn't seem much but, by the cringe, did that hurt ! It'll be a while before I go to the next one ! Also had my amp shortened, so it should be tight when erect. It was a little slack before and tended to catch a lot, giving me some grief . I really didn't think that stretching would be more painful than the original piercing !

5 weeks is not nearly enough time to safely stretch after getting pierced. Of course, people can do whatever they want and plenty have taken the risk without "problems", but it's no surprise that you found it painful. A good PA stretch should never be painful.
