Roller Derby is a lot of fun and you meet the most amazing people. I've been training with Bedfordshire Roller Girls for 4 months now and I'm having the best time.

Were you already a good skater to start with? I've not skated in about 10 years (roller skated anyway) and ice skated in about 5. And I was never particularly great at either, lol

I had not skated for about 15 years when I went to my 1st roller derby training session.
With the support from the coaches and other team mates I have learned so much in the past 4 months and took part in my 1st scrimmage at the begining of the year

I noticed you mentioned that you were little, don't let this bother you. I am 1 of the smallest members in my team. Being little in derby has its advantages lol
Fingers crossed for you, let me know how you get on, and any questions, don't hesitate to ask

Yay, I'm excited now! I've never really done a team sport since school hockey, and even then I was a goalie so I was on my own a lot. Always wanted to get into something team related but that was good fun too

This is the 1st team I have ever been a part of and it's an amazing feeling. It's like I've got 15+ sisters, we're a family.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience

Sorry to intrude but i had to comment Ive been part of a roller derby team for 8 months now and it was the best thing ive ever done. Ive never been one to go to the gym or exercise on a regular basis but roller derby is an awesome way to keep fit and meet new people. I started out with some cheap skates that i found on ebay as i didnt wanna fork out for some expensive ones straight away coz you can always upgrade later

Awesome! Im glad to hear everyone seems to enjoy it for the reasons I thought I would... Been looking on ebay for skates, and I dunno what ones to get! May look round some cheap sports shops this weekend!

It sounds so much fun...and there's no teams anywhere near me. Booooo. I am quite tempted by the 'buy some skates and just go out skating' option though - anything that doesn't involve running for exercise is good!
