Can't stand em. Alyssa can we play this, Alyssa can we go here. No.
We get some right little so and so's at work and the parents just let them run wild. They will constantly ding our reception bell or run around in the middle of the restaurant when it's busy and there's hot food going through but the parents don't say anything. We've also had a small child make a dash through the front door which leads into a busy main road before . Luckily it got spotted and escorted back to the dining room but even then the parents didn't even notice when it was returned!

i can't ever picture myself with a child.

I like kids, they're so funny and sweet. I get to talk to a lot of children at work and I see that most "bad" children aren't bad at all, they're just victims of lazy/uncaring parents. If you don't want your child or won't put the effort in to raise them right, don't have kids.

There's a large topic on the pregnancy and baby forum I'm on about that - children in restaurants. I can't stand it!! Even in just McDonalds and you get the kid in the next booth standing up in theirs, turning round and leaning over so they're practically in yours and staring ugh

I'm not a kid person at all. There are a few kids close to me (godson, other friend's kid) who I love to death and I find anything they do hilarious but any other kid I see on a bus/in a restaurant/supermarket/generally anywhere absolutely does my head in. There's nothing more annoying that trying to do your shopping with a trolley and having to maneuver (sp?) around kids messing about in the aisles.

It's not the behaviour of kids tbh it's just that I only like my own/those very close to me. There's no real blame to be put on kids messing about, as above, it's either poor parenting or there may be a medical reason for "off" behaviour. Before my son was diagnosed I was viewed as a crap parent a few times because of his "behaviour". But even then I wouldn't let him be rude to other people or gawp at them in restaurants etc.

I've always said I'm fine with babies but once they start walking and talking I can't handle them! Niece is 3.5 now, she's funny but she's flipping mental at times! Another few months and there'll be another one, still not sure what to think of that.

I was never, ever like that apparently I was the perfect child when out, I never threw tantrums and I could be trusted to just sit and read or engage in conversation if we went to a pub or something. You could also give me as many sugary drinks and crisps as you wanted and I would still just sit there and read.

I was an awesome kid... I want to adopt baby me :P

As a large part of my job is under 16s dispensing, it's a good job I like kids don't get me wrong, there's a few annoying ones sometimes but generally I prefer working with kids. They're honest about what they do & don't like and I love it when they sit and talk to me about their day. One little boy invited me to their house for dinner haha.

on the kids in restaurants topic. I honestly don't see what the problem is with them being there as long as the parents take responsibility for their child's actions and teaches them to behave. My parents used to take my brother and I out to dinner every so often as a treat and we were always expected to sit still and mind our P&Q's, admittedly when we were smaller and got bored more easily mum would take colouring books or play paper games with us or read to us but the point was she took responsibility for us and growing up my parents owned a guest house so my brother and I learnt from a very early age not to go charging through the kitchen when mum was busy cooking for the evening meal. Just as I believe there's no such thing as a bad animal just bad owners I also believe there's no such thing as a bad child just lazy and uncaring parents who can't be bothered to put in the effort required to raise a child properly. obvious exception being if the child has a medical reason for "misbehaving" ie ADHD, ADD,ASD etc

We have colouring things available at work which we give out to anyone with a child but the parents still let them run riot. More interested in chatting than watching what their child is doing.
Dont get me started on the mess they leave behind....
