It's totally understandable, best to mention it though as you say.

So, I stopped the pill just to see if it's contributing to my mysterious illness in any way. I never realized how much it killed my sex drive until I went off of it and it came back! Not looking forward to the horrible periods again though.

So I've been on Microgynon for about 7-8 years now but recently I'm worried that it might be contributing to my recent start of anxiety symptoms, I've had a quick think and am considering switching to the implant but wondered if it might just have similar side effects to the pill?

I've only ever been on microgynon so not very familiar with other methods.

If you're considering the implant I'd consider trying a PO tablet or the injection (which I'm on and would TOTALLY recommend) first as if they dont suit you it's easier to switch back than from the implant

How is the injection easier to switch back from than the implant? Surely once its injected into you you cant uninject it? Thats the only thing thats ever stopped me from getting it.

It only lasts for 3 months and you can opt not to go back and get the next one. With the implant they ideally would like you to stay on it for 12 months to get a real idea of how it's affecting you, some people can have a real fight on their hands to get it removed earlier and you cannot remove it yourself (well you can but it's hardly recommended).

Also imo it's nicer not to have to have 2 minor surgical procedures just to see how something affects you when a painless (for me) injection is less hassle.

Ah i see. I didnt know they liked you to keep your implant in for so much longer! Even with pills you know whether its working for you within 3months.

With the combined pill yes PO/Implant/Injection can take longer, I was all over the place for over 6 months with PO pills, injection seems to be going fine for me so far though, had 1 period which came bang on time, extremely light spotting for 10 days and that was it. Hopefully it will just settle down into no periods.

Aye, I've had my implant in for around 16 months now despite being told to get rid of it by my gynecologist, I'm struggling to get it out. It has gone quite deep in my arm and I am having to see a specialist next month for a scan but it has took way longer than it should! I'm also very surprised and a little concerned at how deep it has gotten in the space of 16 months when it's "supposed" to be in for 3 years!

Something to think about really, have a look online and do a few suitability tests mebbe?
