    Default Floatation tank

friend of mine was round this evening talking about this place near us which has a floatation tank. I've never been in one but apparently it's really relaxing and sounds like something I'd quite like to try.
My friend said that the water is v. v. salty to aid floatation (like the Dead Sea). So I thought: aha! good for my piercings. Then she said that they make you put vaseline over your eyebrows and over any cuts you may have, to avoid the salt getting in it. And I thought: wtf? why? but she couldn't tell me, other than that she thought it would hurt. I began to wonder if they'd expect me to put vaseline over my microdermals (my other piercings are so old they wouldn't notice salt if it came in bucketloads).

Anyone else tried a float tank? am I right that the salt content would just be a good thing, nothing to worry about, or am I missing something?

Ehh well I'm not exactly sure what a floatation tank is, but I'll give it a shot. I can't imagine it being the best for your piercings to be honest.
"Very very salty" isnt good for piercings really, too much of anything isnt good for piercings.
And I can't imagine its going to be the most hygienic of places, like a swimming pool I guess?
    Am I making sense?

But thats no reason to stop you, if you want to do it just do it. Try waterproof plasters over your microdermals, just while your in. I don't think you'd want to be smothering them in vaseline. Make sure you give everything a good clean afterwards and it'll be fine.

mmm wouldn't they clean & empty the tank between customers? (was going to say, between floaters... but that's not a nice image). If I'm in there worrying about the cleanliness it's not going to be relaxing...!
Definitely don't want to be putting vaseline on my mds, they don't like gunk anywhere near them.

I'd personally wait a until your MDs are healed before getting in, just to make sure! And once you get out again have a good ol' rinse to make sure there's no salt build-up around any of your piercings!

If it was me, I'd SO wee in the water. LOL.
