    Default 5-7 year tattoos??

    Hey,

When I was 16 I got a 3-5 year tattoo done in a salon in Glasgow, I am 21 now. It shows no signs of moving and a tattooist I have spoken to said he doesn't think it is ever going anywhere. At the time it was very new and the only reason I got it was because I was not old enough for a 'real' tattoo (which would have cost less and been permanent! Grr).

I have noticed when I got mine it was a 3-5 year tattoo but now I see 5-7 year tattoos. :?

Does anyone else have any experience of these? Idon't know anyone else who has one although I have seen people claiing to do 'temp-toos' at festivals, which worries me. Has anyone even had one long enough to give it a chance to fade?

Luckily, I really like mine and would have been likely to get it gone over anyway but I'd just like to know.

    Cheers for any info.

    ~ Dana ~

Edit: Perhaps this should have been in 'Help and Advice'. Sorry. xx

This seems to be the case with everyone I know getting these so called temptoos. Apparently they are done (usually in hairdressers/beauty salons etc) by not penetrating as many layers of skin, which I can imagine must be pretty hard to gauge. Stay well clear!

My, you are helping me a lot today Cinnamon_Spider!!

I would also advise to steer clear. If you don't know whehter you want it permanent, don't get it!! Mine was done in a beauty salon, the type of place that does permanent eyeliner and lip colour too. Cost me a fookin fortune!!

    Grrrrr!!!

Oh, I just read this on BME about these:

Q "I have seen a tatoo shop offering temporary tatoos that last for 3-7 years. This seemed to me like a good idea at first, but in that case why have i never heard of these before? How are they done, and would they eventually go away completely? Thanx
    Claire"

A (BME) "Because it is a lie! Anytime the skin is opened, it is permanent is some form. Usually these "temporary" tattoos are just porrly done ones that don't go as deep in the skin. Then NEVER look as good as a real one and are not gaurenteed to completely reject. Either way though you will be left with some form of scar to remind you."

The one I've got better go, because I don't like it anymore!
I got it about 3 years ago, and it isn't showing any signs of fading
