    Haha it's all good. It was before I decided to take them out so I thought I'd just change the post instead of saying never mind.

    Noob question: At what point do you need to use tapers? I had my lobes pierced at 16g, and when I bought a pair of 14g rings with the intention of stretching and asked if I needed a taper, the girl (not from the same place I got pierced) told me I could just stick these in with some lube (which she gave me) and have no problem. Well, she was right, no problem. I don't remember any burning or anything, but that was a year or two ago.

    So anyway, after my lip heals in a month or two I want to focus on my ears, so I'm wondering was this girl wrong and I should taper no matter how small, or is there a point at which I should get tapers, and before that is fine?

    It is possible to stretch without ever using tapers. You just need plugs (or septum bullets, or whatever) that have a nice rounded end and no snaggy bits - so no external thread for example - after a hot shower, give your ears a rub with lube and see if the next size will go in.
    Sometimes it will, which is nice, sometimes it won't so you have to wait longer or start taping.

    It's called dead stretching and can be the safest and gentlest method of stretching because there's no forcing involved, you have to go at the rate your ears dictate.
    what's a few seconds of pain for a lifetime of shiny?

    Both lobes 1/2", 5mm, 1.6mm
    Left rook & 5mm helix punch
    Right helix x2 & forward helix
    VCH, 5mm tongue

    I think in the next week if my ears dont loosen up enough to get the DF's in I might just strech to 8mm instead, how bad would it be if I went from 6mm to 8mm? just I couldn't find anywhere round here that had any 7mm stuff =/
    Pierced;
    9mm Lobes, Second Lobes, Right Tragus, Left Helix, Right Nostril, Central Labret, Inverse Navel, Tongue, Left Conch.

    Lobes are now 5mm, tape is sooo much better than tapers!
    has: 2x lobes 8mm - septum 4mm - tongue 4mm - conch 5mm - 1 tattoo

    had: labret - dahlias - conch - nipples - 2x microdermals

    soon: conch punch - nipples - 2x traguses - 2x outer labia - more tattoos
