I am new so probably jumping in a bit at the moment, but have had a huge shock recently found out my husband has been gambling to a huge huge degree (in complete secrecy) so am going through a divorce and trying to keep our daughter unscathed. It's hard. Especially as I have a long term illness which makes the future alone scary.

I honestly cannot get over how awesome the bf is. He's so patient and supportive and loving. He does SO much for me without me asking him or feeling obligated. We both struggle at times yet there's little to no resentment going on, just a solid understanding. He's just driven 450 miles this weekend so I could go try on dresses in Edinburgh, he's offered to do it again when I go for fitting and the hen night. He never judges, he never pressurises me, he builds me up when I feel down and never ever puts me down in the first place. And if all that wasn't great he's also a wonderful step father to my son and does loads for him as well.

I never thought it would take until my 30's to find the right person but I am confident he is. Yes we have hard times and yes we have fallen out a few times in the past 3 years but it's always quickly sorted. I would say I feel fortunate but I actually believe I deserve someone this good in my life, as does my son.

D'awww this is too sweet <3 Made me feel all fuzzy inside!

I have times where I just want to go on and on about how much I love my boy but I'm not sure many people (if any!) would be remotely interested

I'm interested! I think we are taught that being proud/happy is seen as boasting or rubbing it in other peoples faces so we hang back. Do what makes you happy I say!

I just feel that this is real love and a genuine relationship compared to the 12 years I spent with my ex husband. I find it fascinating how I didn't realise back then how good a relationship can be.

I also sympathise and empathise with anyone going through a tough time, it's awful. It took me 5 years to split up with my ex, I tried so hard, he even tried a bit at one point but I realised he couldn't change into another person and as such I had to end it. I had also lost all respect for him and resented him greatly which is not what I wanted my son to think was a good relationship.

I can relate Hazel. I've never been married or had kids but I've dealt with mutual resentment and struggling to leave a bad relationship. I was with my last partner for nearly 6 years and it took me a long time to actually get the courage to leave. My current partner really is everything I could ask for and so much more, and before I met him I had no idea just how much I didn't like my ex and just how bad our relationship was. Hindsight, eh?

Going through that was a good learning experience though. I'm less trusting, more confident/independent, super happy and in love now. Life is good.

    Sounds epic!

Had a great week with mine, he's so lovely and supportive. Can't wait to go on our first big holiday with one another!
