I spent a few weeks in Presley Bay in the transkei, then Umtata and then Soweto a few years ago. Was amazing.

My dad was fifty on Saturday and they've gone on holiday to Malta to celebrate as 21/9 is their (49th) independence day.

So I went all the way home to put a pepperami in the fridge for him to find and he loved what I got him (inflatable fish - what my mum bought him when he went to the Falklands with the RAF) to open in Malta; anyways, I had a phone call quite late at night from him asking me if I can see the moon. So I say yes. And I quote 'I can see the moon and the stars, and if you can see them too, we're not so far apart' :')

made me tear up a bit.

    Aww that's so sweet!!

My dad used to say something similar while I was living in Somerset. If I ever had a wobbly moment and missed him loads (happened frequently!) I'd ring him and he'd say 'go outside, and look at the sky, we're both stood under the same one,it's not so bad'
