    Default advise please... bad healing

    Hi

I had my lobe pierced with a 1.6 bcr a few weeks ago and to begin with it was healing really nicely... and now the last week or so it has been realy 'crusty' and quite gunky a few occasions...its not red or very sore. i have been cleaning it only when crusty with saltwater... now i will start trying tea trea oil..will this help has anyone used this before>? or does anyone have any advise.. im getin concerned its not going to heal and that sometimes it feels 'stuck' like the hoop wont move and is all blockd. i have not been moving it apart from when its cleaned..and this is very little.

    any advise would be great.

If youíre gonna use tea tree oil donít over do it, itís good stuff but quite strong. Just use it once a day, probably in the morning and only until the infection has gone. I know you canít really mix water and oil, but try adding a few drops of the tea tree oil to about an egg cup amount of boiled water, stir it up with a cotton bud, then use the bud to clean around the piercing, that way the tea tree oil is not quite so concentrated.

Personally Iíd try to just leave it alone. Donít keep fiddling with it, rotating it or removing gunk as soon as it appears. Just keep doing the normal cleaning and give it time, itíll be alright. Either that or your ear will completely drop off! (sorry, I didnít mean that, Iím sure itíll be fine!)

it's pretty normal for piercings to be crusty and weep. i think it's mainly because the stuff that's being used to head the hole has to come out somewhere doesn't it. remember the body treats it like a tiny wound and is allways trying to heal it up. just soak the crusties away with salt water and it should be fine
