At the yard i worked at at one point we had 22 stabled horses and had me and one other girl to do the stable work-it was exhausting! I never even got paid to do it!!! The things we do when we are 12 eh?!
Sadly also the things I do when I'm 24...lol.

Well I run my own horse sitting business, I have one regular client who I do daily, the rest I do when they're away on holiday.

Currently I muck out about 10 horses a day. 6 of those are absolutely stunning dressage horses and I love them to bits. The same woman actually owns 13 altogether but thank god some of them live out all year round!

I also own a lovely Welsh Sec D called Tegoz Marianos, Major to his friends. He's pure bred and 18 yrs old now. I've had him since 2002. He came from a riding school I worked at where he'd been sent as a part exchange for another horse. He was in the school for 3 years and was trouble personified. He'd tank off when being led, hated being caught, bucked and cat leaped people off nearly daily and was generally dangerous.

I could see he just wasn't happy there and so when I heard he was going to the meat man on the next lorry I bought him.

Everyone said he'd always be too dangerous to ride outside, I'd never be able to handle him etc etc.

Now 7 years on we compete regularly, have done XC, endurance, showjumping and dressage and have won (at local level) in all of them.

Sorry for the essay, I'm just very proud of my baby

LOL thanks, I was actually trying to get one of him drinking because he does this cute thing where his ears wiggle everytime he swallows but just as I turned on the camera he did that enormous yawn and I somehow caught him!

He's a very lovely boy nowadays, was a bit of a thug for a long time but he's wised up in his teens!

I used to ride, years ago when I was still at school. I shared a horse called Laddie, no one else would ride him because he was fast and temperamental.

I had to quit because I just couldn't afford it anymore. I wasn't working full-time, being still at school, and it was so expensive...

I'm planning on going back to it again, but a few things put me off. I used to ride at a few places which were full of snobs from privileged backgrounds, "daddy bought me another pony" type people.

Current piercings: 7/16" lobes, 1.6mm lobes, tongue, labret, septum, navel, 2 x R helix, R tragus, 5mm dermal punched L helix
Tattoos: tudor rose on stomach, cherry blossoms on shoulder blade
Planned: daith, rook, conch, & more tattoos!
    Retired: 1.6mm helix, 4mm lobes, 1.6mm scaffold, 1.2mm monroe

Don't let them put you off, just make sure you're better than them You'll often find that those of us who have had to work for our horses know a hell of a lot more than those who are just given them. They're usually crap riders too.

I worked 3 jobs to afford my horse while I was uni and I bought him myself with my savings. I've never regretted it for a minute. Much rather work for something than be given it for nothing

Haha that's so true! It is much better to have worked hard for something, well done for your perseverance.

I'm looking forward to riding again, though it'll be back to basics most likely as I've not been on a horse for about 7 years now!

You'll be amazed at how much you'll remember, it's like riding a bike My mum's friend hadn't ridden in about 20 years, booked them both a lesson and she was cantering and everything!

Good luck getting back into it though, it'll be the best thing you ever do!
