I had to ride the yard stallion.
I must have been thrown at least 2 times everytime I rode him.
As soon as he got a wiff of a girl, he would go bloody MENTAL.
Even if I took him the longest possible way out of the yard, that boy had a bloody nose!

I always got the spaccy ones too... Even tho I have a hot seat, my instructor just said "I'm not worried, so you shouldn't be either!". Nice to have the vote of confidence and all, but going around on some mentalist pony who would go schizo every time she saw even a pole on the ground... It's fun, but sometimes you just want a ploddy ride on a sensible horse!

And referring back to the lickit covo, the cherry one was the best! I swear, I nearly ate a whole one once. Over a few days, of course!! Mainly to try and encourage the horse to eat it! o.o

hehe i always got the fruit loops aswell.
The pony we had recently, holy mother of god.
    She was skitzo! lol!
I tried everything to get her to be controllable!
    Different bits, feed etc....nothing worked.
Tried, dutch gag, different snaffles..bloody PELHAM!
Bitless bridle worked as far as her not fighting it but still wasn't very effective.

trotting poles to her were galloping flat out poles...lol!
    I'm Nic!

Hehe xD I love working with skitzo ponies
    It's exciting
I've returned back to the good old eggbutt snaffle after decided a dutch gag was too harsh on my horses sensitive mouth :(

Does anyone know a number for an equine dentist in the Yorkshire area?

Haha, sure that was fun...I've never ridden a stallion before, don't think I've ever been at a yard that allowed them. Oh actually there was one at the yard I did my work experience but I didn't really have any contact with him.

Ponies are the worst I swear....at least with something big there's something to grip onto! Damn barrel shaped Thelwell types with saddles that slip!

It always hurts more if you fall off them too. You're literally straight on the floor! With big'uns you have some time to think and have a better chance to land of your feet!!

I always found Myler bits to be really effective. I used to ride a TBx mare called Scarlet who was actually insane. Would charge around the school and spook at anything she could spot, and you couldn't stop her!!
Put a Myler on, and after a few sessions it really helped. One of my prouder moments was when she came into a outline and cantered sensibly around the school. Then we put a pole on the floor, and she exploded. Sometimes it's just in their heads :S
