It's not really safer at all. If a bioplast bar gets knocked it's still going to hurt and could easily be ripped out.

Why not try Jeet Kun Do, it implies all martial art styles and allows you, the user, to create their own brand, unique style of fighting... "be like water"

Well at least you're honest about it

Hehe I've always thought wushu is very impressive.....it may be completely useless as an actual fighting style but I sure as hell can't do it!

i'm interested in gatting back into martial arts, in one form or another, but i'm not sure if i would because of my nipple piercings

the rest of m,y piercings i think i would be ok with, but it's the nipples that are worrying me

i'm assuming that I wouldn't be able to do any martial art with them, but does anyone have any positvive expereinces/advice?

I've been practicing Tae Kwon Do for 9 years(ish). Second dan black belt. Mainly WTF, but dabble in ITF as well.

I used to compete all over California, qualified for AAU junior olympics when I was 12 and when I was 15. Never went because my family didn't have the money to travel.

I haven't been seriously training lately due to school difficulties, but I want to get back in to it as soon as I can.

Anyone know of American Taekwondo Center in Southern California? They have a school in Aliso Viejo and in Corona (I think there are two in Corona now). I trained there last summer, and it was incredible.

I want to start a martial art when I go to university next year (in Bournemouth), but I don't really know where to begin. I'm quite heavily built and have big, stocky legs from weight training and rugby (and eating too much...) and aren't particularly (at all) supple. So what would be the best for me? I've heard about Krav Magra, but I can't see it being easily accessible. Anyone know anywhere in Bournemouth that has decent facilities too?

I'm going to join the gym at BU (I'm going to AIB) so I'll have a look to see if they have martial arts clubs there too. Just thought I'd keep my options open.
