It is very much so trial and error! The majority of people on hair dye and hairdressing forums find blues are the hardest to keep, but as you and I say everyone is different plus it depends on working out the right frequency to wash hair, what to wash it with, how you style it, what products are used etc, there's 100's of variables!

The same can be said for any dye that isn't a box dye, they aren't designed to last and rarely does a colour last very long for many people.

Personally if you are persistent and want the colour enough, it shouldn't matter, a box dye on my short hair rarely lasts the 6 weeks it says about, so why not do it anyway.

Yeah blue is very difficult to keep, it also needs an almost white base.... In colour correction and removal, blue is the easiest to remove from the hair the pigment is very very volatile, so this explains why it fades so fast....

Yep, I use it for red. I just noticed you asked about the "black henna". What are you intending to use? Because there's no such thing as black henna, those pre-packed things are loaded with potentially harmful chemicals. But you could do a pure henna, and then go over it with indigo, that's how you get black. Only use 100% pure body art quality henna
If you got any questions, I could find some links for you.

By black I meant indigo oops.

But here's one I'm interested in. It comes with natural henna and indigo.

Also LUSH sells henna for hair one of them is "black" want to know if anyone has tried their henna hair stuff.

I've tried the red (caca rouge), it was lovely Was very messy to apply but I found it pretty fun :p I've still got 5 blocks left so it's going to keep me going through uni, going to try the dark red and brown one too in the future I hope. I'm using henna to give my hair a break after bleaching and dying so much!

How long did the red last you before it started fading? And by messy do you mean it was a stainer?
