Kids v No Kids

tbh............. I couldnt give a f*ck about if people get abortions or not, their lives, their choice, them who live with any consequences, not me, so im not going to bother even considering whether id be pro or anti abortion, i just dont give a sh*t. The only thing i know is i dont consider it murder.

But someone posted video;s and used the arguement people should know what they are getting into with abortion, this thread isnt the place to educate people on how its performed really is it? If you are itnerested in it, research it, if not you find out from the hospital/doctor whatever when you go to ask about the procedure. People click links by accident whether warned or not, if vids like that are going to be posted ever should be in the 18+ section so it takes a series of "mistaken" clicks to end up looking at something you dont want to see hence drastically reducing chances of falling upon it cause of a browser freeze or something.

Also some study about stats of being born alive after the abortion process, quite frankly thats from a newspaper, its probly utter bollocks so you shouldnt go upsetting yourself believing that crap, until I see the official journal publication that story is a heap of rubbish to me.




Back on topic, I f*cking hate kids.................. like i cant stand being in the company of children on any level. Cant say how id feel forever though.

Although I do not personally feel I could go through with multiple abortions, and I'm not daft enough to consider it a method of contraception - I would rather the option remain open for EVERYONE to ensure that those people who do genuinely make a mistake, are the victims of rape, or just simply are unlucky have it open to them. To be fair my feelings on women who have multiple abortions are more concern over their health and sexual intelligence, than the unborn child.

I do not believe that 'valid' life begins at conception. For me it's no different to bacteria or dandruff at the very earliest stages, and no different to any other mammal until later on in gestation. I do not consider unborn children as having rights over the mother until the later stages of pregnancy.

I use the term 'valid' to make my feelings clearer, I know it sounds a little crass, but it's the most basic way I can think of describing it.

I want to continue having sexual relationships, I do NOT want children. I do my very best to avoid pregnany and if it came down to it I see abortion as a perfectly valid option. As Monkey said - if you don't want to have one or you don't agree with it, then don't have one.

I suppose being from Northern Ireland makes me view abortions in a slightly different way. I am pro-choice, however getting an abortion in Northern Ireland is nearly impossible - you have to travel to England for the procedure.

Psychologically, traveling to get an abortion would be a little more taxing, coupled with added expenses. I'm going to go ahead and generalise here, and say that making abortion a more difficult option leads to less abortions. However as my little quote up there shows an unofficial number of backstreet abortions still happen. I know I'd rather have abortion legalised than have dodgy backstreet operations going on.

Personally, I think abortion should be taken as a VERY serious procedure, but it damn well is a better option than backstreet stuff. They are evidence that people are sometimes desperate enough to put their lives at risk.

No I suppose I should have included that statement too.

I don't consider abortion murder at any stage personally. I consider it unethical at the later stages, but I'm still not sure I could consider it first degree murder.

Is it just me who thinks that some guys have a very rose-tinted view on the subject? I feel that if I'm the one who's life is going to be turned upside down by having an unplanned and accidental baby then it should be my choice to avoid that situation via abortion.

Whereas for the guy it's not like it's going to ruin HIS career or affect him in any way - he just has to pay for the thing. He can go back to work the next day and act like it never happened.

Sorry if this is a bitter view on it but I grew up without a dad - he wanted a boy so he pissed off and left my mum with all his alcohol fuelled debts.

EDIT: BTW this isn't aimed at anyone here, I just had an argument with my bf that I've had several times before. He htinks if you get pregnant you should have it. I don't

I agree. But what if one is so set against it and one is pro choice? And both are adamant that their way is right? I worry that one day we may come to that point and one of us would end up doing what the other wanted just to keep them happy. But regret that decision forever.

I don't think I could love a baby knowing I'd only kept it to keep my bf from splitting up with me!

I'm sure it'll never come to this but it scares me to think it's possible

I know it's very idealistic and doesn't always work this well - but I think that the abortion/kids vs no kids question needs to be asked at the beginning of any sexual relationship.

I personally couldn't bring myself to start a relationship with someone who didn't want what I wanted, or who clashed with my views on abortion.

I do know it's all very well and good to say that and it's hard to do in practice though.

I agree, the "big" issues in relationships, like marriage, kids etc ideally should be sorted at the beginning.

If it's left too late, and there's a fatal difference of opinion it would be quite heartbreaking.
