That was very interesting!!!
I agreed with so many of her points and have heard mothers of children I've taught make some of those same claims!
Not all women find having children the rewarding experience we're conned into thinking it is!!
If you find the book in English let me know where you got it because I'd love a copy, Christ I'm tempted to use my school girl French to struggle through the French version just to read it!!
Thank you, just ordered it!!!
Yeah, I know I'm not gonna let anyone tell me I can't do it. I just know that it's gonna be a bit of a pain in the ass with peoples reactions at the school gates and things like that. I know most people aren't really accepting, but some are.
It's a shame people think that way Tabby, but you never know, maybe they'll surprise you and by the time you have kids people might be more accepting. When I think of parents at the school gates I tend to be thinking of people older than myself, like my parents age who might not be so accepting (although my parents would) rather than people my own age who are more likely to be accepting of such things. I don't know why people think that, one of my brothers is gay and I know for a fact he'd make a fantastic parent
I think it's just because it's outside the norms of what people expect a family to be.
If you think about if a few decade ago, people looked at single mums that way. It wasn't the done thing and people were wary of it. The poor single mums would get the funny looks as they collected their children at the school gates. Now we are very accepting of single parent families, so who knows hopefully attitudes will change towards same sex parents in the future.
I know from doing a PSHE class with Year 1/2 students a few years back that the children were very open to the idea of children having same sex parents. Their attitudes where as long as the parents loved each other and their children it didn't matter.
Hopefully with time, older generations will be as accepting!
No I get that it's because it's not the norm but I just can't get my head around the prejudices some people have because there's really no sense in it. I have a difficult time with understanding people as it is
I agree, people's prejudices make no sense to me either!
I've never understood why your religion, sexuality or race should be an issue to anyone else! Nor do I see why it should dictate what you can do with your life!
Some people say I'm just naive because I can't see why people can'y just be nicer to others. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean you should shun that person!
