Thanks for all the advice, I did buy him a wee thing, so hope he approves :) I'm taking him for dinner too so it should be good.
Write a hand written letter, I have massive trouble conveying my emotions. I'm a lot better than I used to be but there are some things now that I can't do even though I see John every day and stuff so I sometimes will write a letter or just words or scenarios and give it him to read, I find it much easier that way.
Long distance is hard work. I'm lucky that at the minute we only have to go 5 days apart before he drives the 3 hours to come see me for a few days, but this shift pattern wont continue forever then it'll get harder. Plus when he gets sent overseas it will be at least 2 months apart. Texting is what keeps it bearable for me, if i didnt hear from him as much as i did i think i would go crazy! Also Skype is a life saver! Means you can actually see them which really helps
Yeah I know he uses skype to talk to his mum and lots of texting is already happening :) It's just such a pain talking on the phone as I live in a mobile no-mans land! I need to get a vodafone contract and get one of those suresignal things!
Him in the pub last night after we'd been goofing around "Gah, I love you so much. I have such fun with you when we go out. I mean, obviously I love you but also you're really fun to be with and that's a really important thing."
Squee! <3.
Me and Joe say that kinda thing a lot and its really important in a relationship I think. I have a lot of mates who say "Ugh, gotta go out with HER this weekend" and stuff about their girlfriend and they seem to kinda suffer each other. But me and Joe are like best mates as well, laughing and joking about and having a great time together!
We went to a Warhammer expo this weekend and had such fun joking about all the weird people there (i know they were probably joking about me, the pierced girl in Hello Kitty boots too so that makes it ok!) and we just had such a laugh, and his enthusiasm is so infectious I found myself having a pretty good time!
:) I bet mine would've loved to go to a Warhammer expo! It's weird, but I prefer his company a lot of the time if we're out with friends, even though we spend almost all our spare time with each other since we live together. We don't see our friends often enough because we're too skint to go on nights out and it gets me down sometimes but then when we're out on a rare occasion I'd still rather stick with him :s. Not in a particularly clingy way, I just like having the opportunity to spend time out of the house with him, our usual evening/weekend is sat in front of WoW/internet or watching telly. Wish his boss would get his arse in gear about this interview they said they'd give me, feels like I'll never hear from them. Getting the job would be amazing. I'd like to break the monotony and actually be able to do things on the weekend, day trips or something.
A few have babies, a few have flats they can't afford alone, some just like the security but not the person. Silly really, surely you'd rather look for someone else. A mate of mine's 2 year old used to say "poor daddy" when the mum was nagging and sniping at him...Hmm, what a healthy environment for a child....
