The best thing that happened to me so far today was getting off my chest how disappointed i was at seeing one of my greatest loved books turned into a pile of s***, review directed at the director. what a tosspot

BEST THING??? errrrrrr seeing sarah for the 2nd time in ages and last night i spent the night with a lady friend (not doing anything nuaghty) was nice to have a cuddle

I haven't seen the film yet, I read the triology a few years back as a kid and am re-reading them, to be fair from what I've seen the movie looks pretty damn amazing

i've read the trilogy 4 times now and is absolutely amazing, granted the trailers did look good but the film is just >_<

they cut the ending and change so many things, even the order of the story in some places. it moves too quickly to make sense and the characters dont have time to develop properly

The golden compass isn't crap, it's the american name for the book.

that was the first mistake, i wish they'd kept the title aswell.

It was made by americans wasnt it, so do you really expect them to choose the name on our cover and not theirs?

im not urging for an argument here, just as a great lover of this trilogy and having grown up with this trilogy aswell i just wish they'd kept it as it was instead of turning it into a piddling little kids fantasy film, which it really isnt

I want to see that. What does annoy me is that it was written by an English author, based in England (to start with) and I swear an English company made it, but they had to name it Golden Compass, and even use the words Golden Compass in the film instead of alethiometer. Plus, it should've been atleast a 15 with all the religious stuff and violence it had in it.

In the adverts when people are talking its actually called alethiometer.
