    Default Helix questions

Bit of a newbie! I've only got lobe piercings at the moment. Wanted something new for a while and finally going for it for my birthday this year.

I think ive decided on a helix, but really like the look of the double.

Is it advisable to get them both at once, I'm thinking minimising pain if two are healing rather than going back for another piercing again later.

What is is better for healing? My piercer will do BCR, horse shoe shape or bars. I've heard that the rings catch less in healing time.

Can I expect it to catch a lot and interfere with day to day activities for a long time? Or is it mostly going to be sleeping?

Theres so much conflicting advice on how to clean and care so if anyone has a good link that'd be great.

    Thanks in advance!

Get both, saves on healing time. Bars are best, rings spin and twist delaying healing for most. I can't see how it will really interfere much with day to day life tbh.

As for care, your piercer should advise you. I personally rinse in the shower, gently wipe away any goo/softened crust with sterile gauze or new cotton buds (q-tips) if I don't have any gauze. I also use emu oil if it's irritated.

Some will do soaks in hot saline, some do hot compresses, some spray piercing related products on, it's up to you really. I personally find less is more.

I agree with Hazel: bars are much better to heal helixes. I had a ring and it took about 18 months before it settleed down.
    4 lobes in each ear
    1 right tragus
    1 right helix
    1 left nose
    1 right & 1 left nipples
    1 VCH
    1 right rook
    1 right inner conch
    1 floating navel
    1 left daith

Retired: left tragus, 2 lobes in each ear, left nipple, 2x navel

Want: 1 vertical tongue, 1 Madonna, HCH,

Unlikely but it depends on the person. Just make sure you go to an excellent piercer who uses high quality implant grade jewellery.

So I got it done today. Well half of it! He said because I want them quite close together he would rather do one, let it swell and settle then do the next in a 2/4 weeks.

I have a labret stud in it now and its just perfect. Didn't hurt at all, but now it's just stinging and throbbing a little.
