    Default keloids w/ tongue piercings

i have keloid scarring on my stomach from a serious surgery i had a few years ago.. would this make me more susceptible (sp?) to a keloid if i got my tongue pierced?

It may, but some people only keloid in certain areas, but not in others.

I doubt it. It depends on a large number of factors, and the word keloid for piercing is thrown around a lot unnecessarily. Keloid's are in fact quite rare, and often piercings actually develop hypertrophic scarring - which is far less serious and far easier to remove. If you do get a piercing done professionally and look after it correctly your chances of a keloid are minimal.

Nah. I wouldn't have though you could get "keloid" on your tongue anyway.

Keloids are to do with scarring on skin. The tongue is a sort of muscle.
So I presume that's why you don't get keloids on tongues.

Sweet, sounds good. But what about the hypertrophic thing.. how do you get rid of that?

Hot sea salt compressions or tea tree oil can get rid of bumps on skin…

But don’t worry, just go and get your tongue pierced, it’ll be fine!
