    Default Overcleaning tongue piercing?

So I just got my tongue pierced last Wednesday in Canada.

The girl who did it told me to wash out my mouth everytime I eat with the yellow Listerine stuff.

I'm afraid my tongue is getting white-ish,but I don't wanna stop using the Listerine and risk getting an infection.

I've read online that u can dilute the Listerine with water so it's not as harsh. So I do that every once in awhile.

How can I make the white go away and whatnot? -scared-

I'd stop with the listerine its way to harsh even when watered down. Your body (well mouth) natuarally makes saliva, in this is an enzyme called "lyzozyme enzymes" this helps to kill germs in your mouth and also heals cuts. Your new piercing is already getting a good clean.
You should rinse out your mouth with salt water after eating and just keep a good general all round oral hygiene.

    haha, good one!

Your tongue turning white is often caused by too much mouth wash. If you are using mouth wash too frequently and/or it contains alcohol E.G. listerene, it can destroy the layer of healthy bacteria on the top of your tongue. If this is the case I would suggest that you use the mouth wash less frequently or dilute your mouth wash with 50 percent water. You can also switch to a salt water mixture. 1/4 teaspoon of non iodized sea salt to 8 oz. of water.

You will also get a build up of manky gunk around the bar, just carry some dry que tip buds about with you this will lift it off.

Also you will find your tongue gets covered in a layer of white film its not actually to do with the mouth wash... when you swalow your mouth forms a vacume, having the hole in the tongue and the extended barbell causes the mouth not to vacume as it should so you get this nice build up, it stops when the barbell is sized down.

Yeah please stop the mouth wash!
1/4 teaspoon of non iodized sea salt to 8 oz. of water.
Actually any salt will do the job fine (just normal table salt) it doesnt have to be sea salt at all. Its all sodium chloride when boiled anyway. Everyone likes sea salt because its more pure but it doesnt really matter.

Salt soaks are good but if it makes you gag use alcohol free mouthwash, NOT listerine!
