Default Need help! Lip piercing swollen after 6 months.

I've had my lip pierced for 6 months and for the last two days it was a little swollen but I figured "meh." When I woke up this morning, it was extremely swollen on one side. I just don't know what to do, I don't know if I can see my piercer today. It's just very swollen and very numb feeling. I'm afraid it's going to get worse. Is there anything I should do? Will I have to take it out? Advice? Thanks a lot.

No. Haven't changed it since I got it. I do have a tendency to play with it and when I moved it two days ago and yesterday it kind of hurt a little bit.

I put ice on it and also took an aspirin. It looks like it went down a little bit, but it's still swollen. Should I wait it out? I'm afraid tomorrow when I wake up it's going to be super-swollen.

do you have the origonal jewellery in that it was pierced with? if you've not had it downsized then its probably irritated from the jewellery being too long

Yeah, I still have the initial jewellery in. I didn't change it because I like the standard ring and captive bead, I didn't think it would matter as long as it was clean.

well get the same jewellery with a smaller diameter so that it doesn't move around too much and irritate the piercing

might also wanna try switching to a labret stud until it settles down too

rings are bad! go for a nice neat little labret stud, they look much nicer and heal a million times better than rings.
