    Default nape piercing

I am thinking of getting a nape piercing, but dont no to much about it. I was told they are prone to infection and grow out very quickly, is this true because i would like it to last a good while. Thanks xx

If you clean the piercing and look after it, it shouldn't get infected but there is a high chance of rejection but it is possible that it would heal. You could look into microdermals what have a lower rejection rate (but can still reject).

They are no more prone to infection than any other piercing, as long as you rinse them properly after washing your hair. They are prone to rejection, yes, but they're pretty much the most stable surface piercing you can get. As long as you get it pierced properly with a suitable surface barbell, by an experienced piercer, it'll probably last a while. Or you could consider microdermals which may be more permanent.

I went for a surface nape rather than microdermals because I like the look of the surface better. I've had it for only about three weeks but it seems to be healing fine. I'm not against microdermals as I've just had some on my clavicle but for the nape I think the odds are pretty good for a decent lifespan.
Got: both lobes, left tragus, left scaffold, right conch, right rook, both anti-tragii (?), tongue, nape, 2 clavicle microdermals, double high nostrils

Want: VCH, left conch, vertical lip

Retired: both eyebrows, nostril, navel, 2 lobes each side, rook, helix, centre labret

Tattoos: rose on right toe, cherry blosson on left foot, Kanji dragons on lower back, lion on upper back, heart and scrolls on left wrist (coverup booked with Rob @ Border Rose for 18th December).

I though that whether you use MDs or a surface bar it would look the same?

The MD's I've seen and have got on my clavicle are a lot smaller than the balls on the end of my surface bar. I preferred the chunkier look of the surface bar. The balls on my bar are loads bigger than the MD's in my clavicle.

Can't you screw bigger balls onto the MDs?

Good question. I haven't seen any but I can't see why it's not possible.
