    Default microdermal :D:D:D

    went for my microdermal today

i decided to only get one instead of 2 so that i could see how it healed before getting the other

i also decided i wanted it on my chest towards the left rather than on my arm, but after pinching around for a bit my piercer said that it wouldn't work because she couldn't get hold of enough skin, so i went back to my original plan and just got the one on my arm

so she pinched up the skin on my right arm, and inserted the needle straight down. She then took it out and pierced it at an angle underneath the skin to create a pocket under the skin, and the same on the other side (i think, i wasn't actually looking lol, thats just what it felt like)

it was far less painful than i was expecting, it was more of an intense feeling of pressure, except for one part where it was as if there was a bundle of nerves or something and it was a very tingly kind of sharp pain

when that bit was done she held on some gauze for a bit to stop it bleeding so she could see what she was doing, and she hooked in the longer bit of the jewellery and pushed until the shorter stem popped in, and it literally did pop, very very loudly which shocked me a bit lol

she put a large plaster over it because it was still bleeding a bit, and she gave me a couple more to wear at night so that i didn't catch it on anything, she told me to clean it with nothing but hot water, as salt can cristilize under the jewellery. She also talked to me about how the arm is one of the places where it's least likely to reject, and that even though she's only known it to happen once, if i unscrewed the disk and left it off the skin might grow over the microdermal (but she said that she thought that only happened to one lass because she'd maybe knocked it and pushed it deeper than it should be)

when i got home much much later, i jumped in the shower and left the plaster on so that the water didn't hit the microdermal directly, and then i took the plaster off and let the water trickle round it, which washed off the dried blood and caused it to bleed again a small amount, but also meant that the disk sat more flat to my arm whereas before the dried blood had raised it slightly on one end

sleeping with it was fine because it was covered with the plaster, and it caused me no problems at all

i got to show my whole family today because we went out for a meal for my 18th, it got mixed reactions lol. for some reason everybody just wanted to poke it.

when she told me about the skin growing over one, it led me to wonder whether this would be a good way of removing them from sight if they're no longer wanted, assuming you dont have to go for an MRI scan and dont mind having a piece of metal sat there for the rest of your life lol, because it'd definatly scar less as it wouldn't need cutting out

I'll update this thread if anything intersting happens to it, as without BME being updated its becoming difficult to hear about new piercing experiences lol, so i thought it might be useful to post a few detailed ones here

    xxx

it didn't bleed much at the time (less than i was expecting anyway) but it bled a very small amount on and off for about a day afterwards.

its not sore at all as long as i dont catch it, and i've not really caught it enough for it to be really painful yet lol

the bruising is just starting to show itself, and its quite an impressive bruise lol. With the brusing the microdermal feels more tight, and i'm more aware of it when i move my arm than i was, but i think that'll go as the bruising goes.
