Default Nipple Piercing - Sensitivity issues?

I'm not sure the best place to put this, but anyway...

I'm thinking of getting my Nipples pierced very soon, but was speaking to someone who has had them done and he seemed to think there has been an overall loss in sensitivity as a result.

This has concerned me a bit, as I really wouldn't want to risk a permanent decrease in sensitivity if I got mine pierced.

What i'd like to know is whether this is a common side effect of getting a nipple piercing. My main motivation behind getting mine pierced is for visual reasons (i.e. Pierced Nipples look hot), and not for changes in sensation, though an increase in this would be considered a bonus.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

some people seem to lose sensitivity but the majority of people i know who have them pierced, including myself, have had a noticeable increase in sensitivity

Yeah, it just worried me a bit, sensitivity loss is pretty scary. I must say thats the first time I heard about it, but it has set a doubt in my mind...

You're not gonna know until you get it done really. There's no way to predict how a piercing will affect you, everyone's different

Thats very true. It does seem a bit odd though, as isn't it all just a bunch of peripheral nerves? I'd have thought any sensitivity loss would be only temporary.

It may be just during the healing period if it's tender and/or swollen...
