I was once told that Savlon provides the perfect breeding ground for germs.

Not saying that's def true, but it's just what I heard.....

I wouldn't advise it! Creams such as savlon can form gunk on/round the piercing that can stop oxygen from getting to the piercing witch the piercing needs to have a good healing!

^There's a spray you can get as well.

I personally hate it coz all it did to me when I used it was sting my piercings like hell and give me dry skin.

From a personal experience... I used it when my nose was healing, and it didn't sting or dry my skin out at all, and I'm currently using it for my healing navel piercing right now. No stinging, no dried out skin, no problems what-so-ever. (Bare in mind I'm using the anti-septic wound wash, the spray, not the cream, I'd never recommend the cream!) BUT... it all depends on different people. Some people it just doesn't work out, for others it's fine. If you're unsure on what to use, (As I don't know what sort of piercing you're talking about) use salt soaks, that's the best and safest cleaning product you can use if you're unsure about anything.

I use Savlon Wound Wash, quite good as you can use it to flush the area...

I've used Savlon wound wash and it did nothing for me other than sting. I'd stick with the salt soaks.

2nd that - but so many people advise against it!! Even the piercer that stretched my nipple up advised against using it!!!

Each to their own really - I find it works!

I used it at first with my conch because my friend had used it on her navel, so I thought I'd give it a try. I didnt know about salt soaks at this point though. The wound wash got all the goo off the bar and it meant I didnt have to touch it, but salt soaks work so much better.
All hail my lovely conch! [23.06.06]
